A flying car?! It’ll never happen…
Technology never stands still. We’re just getting used to the idea of autonomous cars, but it’s already 11 years since the Lexus LS460 took the first steps towards robotic motoring by including automatic parking on the equipment list.
Renault judged the mood of the optimistic early 80s perfectly by being the first to fit a car with a talking digital dashboard, an option sadly lacking from today’s cars, but an infographic from Halfords highlights exactly how far we’ve travelled along the technology highway.
It covers the development of in-car technology from the first radio fitted in 1922 right through to futuristic fancies that are yet to take to the tarmac.
