Kia to reveal Optima estate at Geneva

Kia will be revealing a concept car at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, previewing the new Optima due to arrive in the UK in late 2015.

While the display of the car is no secret, the fact that it will be revealed as an estate car will surprise many. The addition of an estate body to the range will widen the appeal of the new Optima across Europe, allowing the surprisingly refined saloon to finally compete with its main D-segment rivals.

According to Kia, the concept has been created as a “spacious and versatile accessory to an active lifestyle, as a purposeful, energetic design study for the style-conscious, and as a sanctuary from the stresses of the modern world.”

Initially to be powered by a developed version of the existing 1.7-litre CRDi engine at launch, a hybrid and plug-in hybrid will join the model line up later.
