Hyundai’s BMW challenger to arrive in the UK

Hyundai is returning to the premium market with the new Genesis, a £47,995 flagship saloon to be sold exclusively via selected dealerships.

Promising to bring technology, comfort, craftsmanship and ‘premium style’ to the Hyundai range, the full-size saloon will be powered by a 3.8-lire V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

This will be tuned for refinement rather than performance, despite its rear-wheel drive layout. Still, performance should be more than reasonable.

Inside you’ll be greeted by a luxurious cabin that Hyundai says combines space, opulence and serenity. There’s fine-grained leather all round with technology abound that includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, adaptive cruise control and head-up display.

Safety systems will include automatic emergency braking, 360-degree views of the car, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot detection. There will also be the world’s first CO2 cabin sensor to monitor the quality of the environment and help protect the driver from the dangers of drowsiness.

If you have £47,995 burning a hole in your bank account and fancy a swish Hyundai over any of its myriad rivals, then head to the dealerships in East London, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Guildford, Coventry, Stockport or Belfast.
