Vauxhall go EXTREME with new Astra VXR

If you didn’t think that the 276bhp Astra VXR was quite focussed enough, then you’ll be pleased to see this first official image of its angry looking sibling, the Astra VXR EXTREME.

Using the Astra Cup race car as a starting point, the EXTREME (Vauxhall’s capitalisation, not ours) is turned in to a road-legal hot hatch without sacrificing too much of the Nurburgring Endurance Championship competitors DNA.

That means that there is liberal use of carbon components, with an integrated safety structure (or roll-cage), race seats and six point safety harnesses driving home the point that this will not be an economical fleet favourite.

Rumoured to be packing around 325bhp, the Astra VXR EXTREME will be revealed in the metal at the Geneva motor show. It is currently unknown if the garish stickers are compulsory.
